How to Setup Verizon Wireless Network Extender Samsung Scs-2U01 1x/3G Signal Booster initial setup. SCS-2U01 Network Extender installation. How to setup your Verizon Wireless Network Extender aka signal booster. The Samsung Scs-2U01 Network Extender works by connecting to your high speed internet connection and uses that to connect your calls back to their network. When you get your network extender, there are a few things that you have to have in order for it to work properly. You can read all the requirements at http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/network-extender
In my setup I am using a 100' Ethernet cable so that I can leave my wireless router in the middle of the home and move the network extender to a different room. The GPS module has to be able to pick up a GPS signal, so it is best left near a window, preferably South or South west facing window.
When you purchase your Network Extender, you want to sign in to your Verizon Wireless online account and then search "Manage Network Extender" and then click on the link. Preferably for optimal performance especially if you are in a very populated area is to change to a "managed connection". If you purchase this from eBay or Craigslist, you have to call Verizon and have them add this to your account. If they cannot add it, then the seller has to remove it from his or her account and then you can add it. Once added to your account and you change to managed connection, then it’s time to set everything up.
Connect GPS module either to the top GPS holder or use the extension cable so you can move the GPS module near a window. Then connect to your router. Depending on your setup, you will connect this to one of the 4 Ethernet ports usually labeled 1 thru 4. You want to make sure that you do not plug it to the yellow one on the router since the router uses this to connect to your modem. Once everything is connected the last thing you want to do is plug in the power supply. The initial setup can take up to 1 hour to connect but mine took about 15 to 20 minutes to get a GPS lock.
If you have all 4 blue LED’s and are experiencing dropped calls or call issues, then you can dial #48 to test your connection. You will receive one of three recording. Each recording has a different meaning and.
Recording 1: Welcome to Verizon Wireless, You are not under 4G LTE Network Extender coverage. Please move closer to your 4G LTE Network extender and retry after waiting for three minutes. For troubleshooting tips go to Support.VerizonWireless.com
Recording 1 Fix: If you hear the above recording, then you need to turn Advanced Calling OFF. You can go to settings, Advanced Calling and follow prompts. Once you leave your home and if you are in a good signal area, then you can turn Advanced Calling back on. But you will need to turn it off if at home near your network extender.
Recording 2: Welcome to Verizon Wireless, You are not under Network Extender coverage. Please move closer to your Network Extender and try after waiting for three minutes. For troubleshooting tips go to support.verizonwireless.com.
Recording 2 Fix: Basically your device did not register to the Network Extender especially if you just came home. You have to get close to it in order to connect to it. Just wait 3 minutes. If anything make sure that all your LED lights are still blue. If they are blue it should connect and then show a picture of a house on the top of your notification bar.
Recording 3: You are under Network Extender Coverage, You are under Network Extender Coverage, You are under Network Extender Coverage, You are under Network Extender Coverage… it repeats itself
If you get recording #3 then you are good to go.
Some key take-aways. If you are having issues with your Network Extender, you may need to check your internet connection. Go to http://Voiptest.8x8.com and run a Voip Test. This will tell you if your connection can handle this. Usually if you can do a Voip call, this should work. It needs a GPS lock, so move the GPS module close to a window.
